What are Dental Implants?
A beautiful smile not only enhances your overall appearance but can also impact your health, as your ability to chew influences your dietary choices. Additionally, speech is affected by the condition of your teeth. Functional and attractive teeth contribute to a better quality of life.
Your teeth also shape the character of your face and facial structure. Strong, healthy teeth are vital, as tooth roots stimulate continuous regeneration of the bone that surrounds your face.
Tooth Loss
Teeth are lost for many reasons, including gum disease, cavities, cracked roots and even accidents. When a tooth is lost, the bone that previously surrounded the tooth root deteriorates. Missing teeth can compromise your eating habits, speech and appearance.
Tooth loss in the front of your mouth can result in visible bone defect that is difficult to disguise, affecting the appearance of your smile. Over time missing teeth in the back of your mouth may lead to the collapse of your bite. This affects the appearance of your face, your ability to eat and even the health of your remaining teeth.
What is a dental implant?
Dental implants are screw-shaped or cylindrical root-form titanium posts that act as artificial tooth roots. These are carefully placed in the jawbone and allowed to heal. During the healing phase, your bone is growing right up to the implant surface in order to lock it in place.
Shortly thereafter, a crown is made to fit on top of the implant to replace a missing tooth or teeth with a ‘brand-new’ tooth. In many cases, you can function with your ‘new’ tooth on the same day as your surgery!
Dental implant treatment is the preferred method of tooth replacement. These implants replace missing tooth roots and form a stable foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like your natural teeth. Dental implants also preserve the remaining bone by providing the stimulation previously provided by natural tooth roots.
Dental implants offer several advantages to the patient. Unlike traditional false teeth, there’s no need to grind down adjacent teeth for a bridge or secure a partial denture with clasps.
In addition to supporting crowns and bridges, implants can also secure poorly fitting dentures. By using dental implants, we can eliminate problems associated with traditional dentures, including looseness, sore spots, trapped food, and embarrassing denture slippage. Furthermore, biting force is increased, resulting in a more natural bite.

Once completed, you’ll be asked to take a seat in the waiting room and a team member will personally collect you when it is time for your appointment.

New Patient Consultation
During your consultation your dentist will ask how things are with your teeth and establish any pressing concerns or issues.
You will receive a full oral health check which includes a tooth check, assessment of the external soft tissues, internal soft tissues, jaw joints and any X-Rays required.

Your Tailored Treatment Plan
Once the dentist has gathered all this information, they have a good understanding of the condition of your teeth and gums.
They will discuss your current situation with you and give advice on any treatment needed, including discussion of all options will be discussed with you.
A printed treatment plan given to you, with cost estimates for the treatment detailed, and our reception team will book any further appointments that you wish to book.
